After seeing Oakley's homes going up in our neighborhood for years, we had grown very fond of their style of build, but never thought we'd be able to afford the high quality type of home that they were putting up. My wife and I originally approached Oakley to get their thoughts on doing a rehab of a home we had found that was badly damaged in a flood. Ryan and Steve took the time to meet with us, give their honest thoughts on the project and make some solid recommendations. They looked at our total budget as well as what we wanted out of a home and offered to build our dream home within our budget, which we never thought we'd be able to do. After finally deciding to build as opposed to buy new or rehab, we interviewed multiple builders, called on references and looked at many homes to get an idea of what we truly wanted out of a house.
Oakley was wonderful to work with every step of the way. Because we were expecting our second child and undergoing a major job change we told them at the onset that we had limited time to commit to the project. They made the entire process very seamless and enjoyable, both very important to us. Steve and Ryan worked with us to find an ideal lot for our budget that allowed us to build an even nicer home than we originally had planned. They allowed us to be as involved as we wanted to be along the way. After seeing many of their past projects we felt very comfortable leaving many decisions to them. They also took the time to get to know us, our style preferences and vision, which allowed for us to feel comfortable in handing over the reigns at times, and we were extremely pleased with the decisions we left to them along the way. Throughout the process, they felt comfortable telling us what they thought should be done differently, and more importantly why. Having two points of contact was also a big selling point to us. It allowed us to always get in touch with someone as well as having multiple people to bounce ideas off of.
We were extremely anxious to get into our new home, as we were renting a small two-bedroom home while construction was underway. Beginning the project in early June, we were very hopeful to get in our home by Christmas, which we knew was going to be an aggressive timeline. The entire process went so smoothly that there was seldom a day that major progress wasn't made. To our surprise we were actually in our home by Thanksgiving – almost a month ahead of schedule. More importantly, at no time did we feel quality was being compromised or work was being rushed.
All in all we couldn't be more pleased with Oakley. They built us a very high quality, beautiful home, both within our budget and time constraint. Along the way we forged a friendship with two individuals we found to be very ethical and trustworthy. Oakley built us a home that we plan on raising our kids in as well as growing old in as a family. It's without reservation that we recommend Oakley Home Builders to be your next builder.
