Exterior design trends come and go, but a colonial style home will always be timeless. Over the past couple of years, we’ve had the opportunity to design a number of colonials and we’re excited to share our latest build in today’s tour. This home was built for a young family looking to move to the western suburbs from the west coast. They were already familiar with Downers Grove and were hoping to find an extra wide lot in the family-friendly neighborhood of Randall Park. When they saw a sprawling 75 ft wide lot that we had listed on Benton Avenue, they just knew it felt like home.
INTRODUCING BENTON AVENUE
Randall Park is one of those sweet, tight-knit neighborhoods that parents dream of their children growing up in, and this charming home couldn’t be a more perfect fit. In a twist from the classic bright white, our clients chose a softer exterior tone and paired it with Benjamin Moore Blue Heather shutters to create a combination that feels like it was always meant to be. Symmetry was a priority and we worked to make the front entry the main focal point while tucking in an attached garage off to the side. A quintessential balustrade was worked in to accent the inviting front porch space.
Be prepared for swoon-worthy custom millwork to follow you throughout this home starting with a wainscoting-lined stairway welcoming guests in from the foyer.
This kitchen is a lesson in classic style with the simple elegance of a slab backsplash married with two-toned custom cabinetry. A cheery, light-filled breakfast nook sits at the ready for cozy mornings together.
Sun-drenched spaces and brilliant millwork meet again in this spacious family room. A lot of love was poured into the plan for trim in this home and the stunning detail of the fireplace is one of our favorite examples.
Just across the hall, custom built-ins take center stage in the deep blue home office.
The first floor of this home is complete with a sophisticated powder room and a checkerboard-tile mudroom practically placed beside the garage.
Upstairs the second level includes four bedrooms (two with en-suites and one Jack-and-Jill) as well as a dreamy blue laundry space overlooking the backyard.
The second floor layout allows for the master suite to be a quiet, private space and the elevated finishes make this bathroom a luxe secluded retreat.
